I have a list to get off my chest. It’s a list of annoyances. No, not stuff that actually matters, I would never put together a list like that. We have a strict no politics rule here at High Ceiling. This is more the stuff that sticks in your brain for half a minute before you move on with your life. Lucky for all of you, I’ve been compiling it once it entered my brain so as to not forget it! Enjoy!
Life Annoyances List
- People that will pull their phone out to fact check in a conversation/argument. This is supposed to be me and you, pal. Who invited Google?
- Going for fast food, thinking you’re maybe 3rd in line but you’re actually 10th because of all the uber eats orders that are being prioritized.
- When the person who is working at a fast food place doesn’t acknowledge you at all. All I want is a “we’ll be with you shortly”. Even a “hi” would suffice.
- How small and useless the Apple TV remote is. I say it to my wife all the time, “we went to the moon in 1969, how is it possible that this is the best remote we could have in this day and age?” My specific grievance is that they made it too small, too slippery, and too sensitive. I’m talking about this guy:

That’s pretty well the true size of this pathetic remote.
- Ads on streaming services. And having to upgrade on streaming services to get certain shows. What a cash grab the world of tv has become. Just take me back to the days of cable, honestly.
- When you slightly mispronounce a word, correct yourself, and someone still feels the need to point out your slight mistake. Even though you already corrected yourself. “That was fantustic…tastic.” “Fantustic!?!? Was it really fantustic?!” Leave me alone.
- Coffee places that purposely have their sizes wrong. Basically, they’ll have these options: regular, large, extra large. But those are actually small, medium, large. So then you ask for a regular coffee and the worker feels the need to point to the cups and say “this is the regular, is that okay?” because they know that it’s actually a small.
- When you suddenly become invisible at a restaurant. I mean a nice sit-down place. They just forget about you partway through. Was I going to get a 2nd drink? Not anymore, I’m invisible! How hard is it to come by for 5 seconds every now and then and ask how we’re doing? Especially when the drinks are empty!
- People that speak with way too much confidence. They will say things in such a sure way, always. They can be way off but with how they speak, it seems like they’re so correct. You’ll actually only realize they’re full of crap when they speak about something you know. “Karlsson? He was drafted in 2015. He was part of the McDavid draft. I remember he was on that Sweden team that McDavid played in his draft year.” WRONG!
- People that you can never impress. Ever. Can’t I just get a, “nice job, buddy.’ No? Okay, then.
- People that always have a story that relates to yours, but then the conversation just goes to them, just as they intended. “Oh that reminds me of the time that I….”
That’s all I have for now. I’ll report back later for more I’m sure.
